Intercultural Day 2019

Our school community came together recently to host our annual Intercultural Day celebrations on 16th and 17th of May. It was an outstanding success thanks to hard work and preparation by all pupils and staff.

Over the two days, our school hall was buzzing with music, dance and culture. The countries represented were: Zimbabwe, the UK, Lithuania, France, Egypt, Peru, China, Romania, Russia, Poland, Italy, Brazil, Australia, USA, Nigeria, Belgium and Canada. Each class performed a song from their chosen country in front of their audience, which included parents, extended family, members of the board of management and classmates.

Displays were laid out with vibrant artwork and projects on food, sport, geography, culture etc.
In their classrooms, the children tasted dishes from their classmates’ home countries.
Thank you to Ms Corcoran for introducing the assemblies, the students who presented each assembly and to Ms Reilly for organising the rehearsals and music. Thank you to the parents who helped with costumes, attended the assemblies and prepared delicious food. A special mention to our incredible Parents’ Association for not only helping teachers with preparing props and providing refreshments to the audience, but for their hard work on the fabulous display around the stage.
We are proud to the diversity of cultures in our school and we look forward to showcasing them again next year.
