Book Week will take place next week at Scoil Chormaic. This includes our very successful Book Fair. Your support for this is greatly appreciated and badly needed as it helps fund the purchase of additional books for our school libraries.
There will be a host of other activities across the week too, including paired reading with other classes, storytelling, Drop Everything And Read and trips to Easons and Balbriggan Library.
We will also hold our dress up day next Friday, March 6th, with all funds raised going towards more books for our school. Full details below:
Book Fair 2020
The Scholastic Book Fair takes place in our school from Tuesday, March 3rd, to Friday, March 6th. Children will visit the fair on the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and they may identify books they wish to purchase. Parents are invited to visit the fair on Thursday, March 5th, between 1.40pm to 3.15pm, and again on Friday, March 6th, between 1.40pm to 3.15pm.
There will be no parental visits in the morning times due to the drop and go traffic system. Parents may only visit between the times above, and should not arrange to come to school at other times to collect children from classes as the Book Fair will be unmanned outside these times.
Please note that children may also use their Book Day Token at the school book fair. Additionally, books can be pre-purchased over the phone in advance of the book fair. If you do this, you must complete a payment slip (provided to your child) and give this (with the transaction code entered) to the teacher at the book fair to redeem your book.
A portion of the proceeds from sales go towards books for the school.
Dress up Day
As part of our Book Week/World Book Day celebrations the school will hold a Dress Up day for the children on Friday, March 6th.
The children may dress up as their favourite book character, favourite author or can don their pyjamas for a Winnie-the-Pooh style bedtime reading!
The children are asked to bring in €2 as part of the school’s fundraising for new books.
Looking forward to a fun day.
Trips to Easons
Pupils from Junior Infants to third classes will take a trip to visit Eason book shop in the Millfield Shopping Centre next week as part of Book Week in our school. The children will walk to and from Eason with their teacher and a support teacher.
The children will be able to use a World Book Day Token to get a free book (limited selection) or to purchase a discounted book. The children will spend approximately 30 minutes at Eason. If you wish to give your child money to purchase a book you can do so but please let the class teacher know.
Please note that children may also use their Book Day Token at the school book fair.
Library visits
Pupils from fourth to sixth classes will visit Balbriggan Library this week as part of Book Week in our school. The children will walk with their classes (weather permitting) to and from the library over the course of the week.
The children will spend approximately 30 minutes at the library – exploring the library and reading from the books.
