Last week we did some additional maths activities as part of Maths Week. We were working on patterns. We were very lucky that we got to use the new pattern resources which had just been delivered to the school the day before. First, we used the pattern cards to copy the patterns and then we created our own. The children began with two colour patterns and some moved on to creating three and four colour patterns!
Later in the week had great fun creating Maths Monsters using different shapes – circles, squares, rectangles, etc. First, we cut out the shapes that we wanted to use for our monsters. Then, we had great fun piecing them together to make monsters. Next, we glued them into place. Finally, we drew faces with our crayons before displaying them for everyone to see. Some monsters had two heads and some had four legs! It was a very funny activity!
