Between today and tomorrow (Friday), we are sending home the pupils’ workbooks as a precautionary measure in case schools do not reopen on January 6th.
We are sending them this week (and not next week) because we are aware that with the wind-down of learning activities next week prior to the winter break, and with the high number of cases nationally, some pupils may not attend school next week.
Please note that we have absolutely no information on potential school building closures after the winter break. This is purely a precautionary measure given the new variant and present number of cases prior to the festive season. It will allow us to ‘hit the ground running’ in the unlikely event that school buildings do close.
We fully expect schools to open as normal after the winter break and sending work home is again a precautionary measure, which many primary schools, both locally and nationally, are undertaking.
Workbooks sent home should remain in the school bags over the winter break. There is no requirement to do any work over the holidays. If schools do not reopen, we will use them as we need them (with work communicated via Seesaw), and if schools do open, please just return the books to school in the school bag over the first two days back at school.
Winter break details:
The school will close for Winter Break on Wednesday 22nd December. There will be a staggered collection time to facilitate social distancing on campus:
Spraoi – 11.45.
1st to 3rd -12.15.
4th to 6th – 12.30.
We wish all families a safe and restful Winter break and look forward to seeing all pupils back at school.
